KWiKFolders

Program Requirements. Inventor R5 or newer.

KWiKFolders allows you to store component settings for a assembly and quickly re-apply the settings when you want. One of the main reasons for this program is that leaving Adaptivity on can be a real resource hog, but how do you remember what needs to be adaptive when you come back to make revisions? KWiKFolders will store the settings you want to remember and allow you to quickly restore them at a later date.

Simply install and then select the KWiKFolders Button that gets added to the IAM Panel Bar.

The KWiKFolders Dialog will come up
with just the Drawing name Showing.
To get started, right click on the Filename
and select Add Folder.

In the Add Folder Dialog, type in a name for the Folder to create. For instance if you are making a folder to hold Adaptive Parts you might just call it Adaptive.

Now right click on the Folder, and probably the quickest method of adding files is to select the "Find" command. Alternatively you can use the "Add Top Level Components" or "Add Leaf Components" commands to select files to add to the folder.

In the Find dialog either type in a a portion of a specific name of a component you are wanting to add, or use the alternative search, choosing something such as adaptive parts. When the search is done, you can choose to add the parts to the folder storing their various attributes "As Is" or override the attributes to be either true or false.

The tree structure down to the components that were selected to add will be shown in the KWiKFolders dialog. Right clicking on a component will show the settings that are stored for it. You can also change the stored attribute values, or select Apply to restore the component to the stored settings. Generally after storing the parts, you will turn adaptivity off to increase performance and avoid inadvertent changes.

At any time in the future if you come back to the project and want to restore your saved values all you have to do is start KWiKFolders, right click on the folder, and select Apply. The Adaptivity will be turned back on for the parts along with any stored Visibility, Reference, Grounded, and Enabled settings that were stored.
