About Me

I started using Autodesk products around version 9 of Autocad . I switched to 3d with Designer, which was the precursor to Mechanical Desktop. I have used every version of Inventor since it's release, and switched to it completely around Inventor R4 time-frame.

I have participated in both Mechanical Desktop, and Inventor Gunslinger events and am well known in the Inventor Community.  I was a assistant forum moderator for the Autodesk Inventor Newsgroups for 2 to 3 years.

I worked for Strobe Data Inc. for almost 25 years. My main mechanical design background is in sheetmetal, designing Industrial Computer chassis. I also did circuit board layout work while there.

Since leaving I have been doing contract work, with the main emphasis on  Flare Towers for the oil industry, and some Railroad Car drawings.

I am also availible for custom programing work.

I have made numerous custom Addins for Autodesk Inventor.

My rates are very reasonable, and many  times customers have told me the customization paid for itself in a very short time.

Some of the custom programs I have written for companies

  • A IDW Batch Print program that runs from Windows Explorer Context menu
  • A Batch Print program that allows you to select a assembly, and it finds and prints every drawing in the project that is related to any parts or sub assemblies.
  • A program that loaded part files, and compared features to a list, to generate a "Score" for the manufacturablitiy of the part, and output that "Score to a text file"
  • Right click Open IDW in Part and Assembly files before Autodesk added it
  • A program to search for a drawing for every part file in a assembly, and print it to PDF in a specified directory
  • A Auto Save to DWF program that ran anytime a file save was done
  • A batch program to open IDW files and save to DWG
  • A program to place a specific set of holes with one click
  • A custom Auto Save Flat Pattern to DXF program with specific layer requirements

Most anything you do multiple times, can be automated and save you both time and money. Email with your needs, for a quote.

I am always on the lookout for contract jobs, so if you are looking for a hard working, honest individual, for short or long term help on a project please contact me
